Celine K.
The tines are twice the width of standard kalimba tines (April Yang kalimba on top for comparison), which makes it very easy to play and an excellent choice for beginners or people with large fingers.
Notes and numbers came engraved on tines at request.
The K17MAP is the same looking Kalimba as the 17CAP. The only difference is the wood is mahogany instead of camphor, so there is no camphor scent and the sound is also a little deeper than the camphor one. It produces a very soft, warm, mellow tone. It doesn’t have a bright, twinkley tone. Also note the board does vibrate a little when playing and my hands feel a little funny/numb after a few minutes. It’s a minor annoyance but note my other kalimbas don’t do this.
-1 star because I bought the K17CAP but they sent me this one instead :) Returned because the sound isn’t bright enough for my taste and the tines are not the size I’m used to, but this is all personal preference. It’s up to you what you prefer! Nonetheless, the quality of this product is perfect.
