My golden 15-tone, D-major steel tongue drum arrived 9 days after I ordered it, all the way from Shenzhen, China, to northwest PA, USA. This beautiful instrument came with a hand-woven rattan wrap already installed around the drum circumference, two mallets, a well-made drum bag/backpack, a sampler songbook, 2 extra mallet heads, 4 rubber finger "picks" (I prefer the mallets), and a strange-shaped little gadget I have no idea what it is (perhaps a hard plastic used as a type of tool to remove the stopper in the bottom of the drum--just a guess). I put the extra mallet heads on the other ends of the mallets, so there is a different type mallet head on each end. In some reviews I read, it was mentioned that the highest tones sounded rather dull on the drum they received. They did for me at first. I discovered you have to hit them with the mallet just right. It takes a little practice. The tones are beautiful. I've already taught myself (by ear) to play "Amazing Grace", "Jesus Loves Me", "You Are My Sunshine", even adding some embellishments. This drum just arrived yesterday. I have and play a piano, and have desired something like this drum for a long time. Thank you, Shakala, for helping my dream come true.

I love this drum!!! It arrived 10 days after I ordered it. It was perfectly in tune and it looks great! I love the “organic” looking macrame rim, which covers a rubber protection rim that is stretched around the drum. I have looked and played many tongue drums, as I live close to a world music store, and have another tongue drum as well. This drum is the best of them all in my opinion. It does not have the “gong” sound many have. Instead it has a gentle sound, very suitable to play (western) songs. There are no overtones... but the notes have a nice “ring”when you hit the sweet spots.
It came with a sturdy bag that can be carried as a backpack and can also be carried by hand. It does not have a shoulder strap but you can carry it over your shoulder with one of the backpack straps. The bag has a handy, large pocket on the inside. Of course it came also with mallets etc. I am looking forward to many years of making music with this dream of a drum!!!

The tone was not exactly what I expected from watching and listening to the video, however I quickly learned that it takes some getting used to. I wish there was a little more information on how to play and get the best sound from the drum. Perhaps there is something available on line? Within minutes, I felt like I was making music! Within an hour, I was completely relaxed! That’s saying a lot for someone high-strung as I. The deep hum vibrates like the sound of a large wind chime. The huge book of sheet music was a wonderful surprise! The carrying case was nicely padded. It came with 2 drum sticks. I ordered some finger sleeves as it did not come with it. The only thing I would have liked to have was instructions on how to position the drum as far as placement. I love this instrument!!
